Electronic Countermeasures
Exo/Endo is a large-scale work for voice-controlled electronics, singers, cello, electric bass and prepared turntables in collaboration with two visual artists, aka Electronic Countermeasures. Exo/Endo was written by Andrea Young for specific performers: Andrea Young, Michael Day, Braden Diotte, Derek Stein, Sara Sinclair, Sharon Kim and visual artists Kerstin Hovland and Emery Martin. Exo/Endo was first presented on May 11, 2014 at the Sharon Disney Lund Theater, Valencia, California. The visuals were front projected upon 20ft sheets of screen material suspended from 6 metal frames that created pods for each performer. The visuals melded animation, live action, and programming (Processing) elements into a 40 minute show that undulates between sparse and quiet moments to aggressive brooding onslaught in tandem with the musical compositions.
